Before the arrival of the colonial powers, the Congo
was a democratic, free and vastly developed country
with a wide trade network. It had an individual
currency and public finances at its disposal.

• After the colonization
On August 15th, 1960, Congo attains its independence.
Since then, it experienced the following
presidencial changes: L'abbé Youlou, Massamba,
Débat, Marien Ngouabi, Yombi Opango, Denis Sassou
Nguesso, Pascal Lissouba, Denis Sassou Nguesso.
